@KJOHN1215

Touching on the themes of the Magna Carta and the rule of King John, this site specific installation, devised, directed and produced by visual artist Joanna Scott, combines unusual lanterns with music and soundscapes by Pete Bilk and video by Dom Martin of Blueboxx.
With social media elements (follow @kjohn1215 on Twitter and get yourself re-tweeted live on the night!), and sound, light and video aspects of the installation being triggered by pressure pads and sensors, the piece is truly interactive. The work features voices of the St. Albans community as they share their views on matters of civil liberty that are reflected in today’s society.
Using clues gathered along the way, visitors will be encouraged to explore the hidden alleyways of St Albans and ultimately make their way to The Freedom Garden, featuring live music performances by King Alfred’s Cakes, The Violent Sleep and James Scott, along with additional lanterns made in workshops with Watford’s New Hope Trust for the Homeless and Disadvantaged.
Sound and music will be running from 9pm, though lights, video projections and lanterns won’t be fully visible until after dusk at around 9.45pm.
You might also want to bring a torch for the darkest parts of this installation and a mobile phone to tweet @King John!
